Assistant Professor of Accounting, Binghamton University
My name is Flora Sun and I am an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Binghamton University, the State University of New York within the School of Management.
I am a financial archival researcher. My research interests primarily focus on disclosure and information production in capital markets. Specifically, I am interested in the determinants of media coverage and its impact on capital markets. I am also interested in studying how investors use the financial information provided by other information intermediaries, such as sell-side equity analysts and credit rating agencies.
I graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in 2024. Before the PhD program, I earned my B.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2013 and Master in Professional Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin in 2019. I was an auditor at PwC Hong Kong for two years (2013-2015) and a compliance specialist at Capco Hong Kong for two years (2015-2017). I passed HKICPA exams and CFA Levels I, II, and III.
Outside of academia, I am a cat lover, basketball fan, and travel enthusiast.Â
